Majapahit Keris Returned to Java

This story has been passed down from my aunty to me.

A Majapahit Keris was in the possession of my family for generations. As a heirloom it was supposed to be taken good care, but someohow one of my relatives had misplaced it and was then taken by a non relative. He then threw the Keris into the sea.

She told me that when the Keris was thrown into the sea a strange occured....She said like a coconut tree, it flew in a straight line without stopping into the sky to an unknown destination…

She thought that was the last news of the Keris but one night the Keris came flying around my grandfather's house in Kg. Buang Sayang, Papar, Sabah, Borneo. It circled my grandfather's house numerous times, but nobody noticed it.

Only my grandfather knew the arrival of the Keris. The rest of my relatives couldn’t sense it. I guess the ability to communicate with the spirits, among my relatives only my grandfather knew at that time. My grandfather told everyone to gather in the living room. Once everyone was seated on the floor, suddenly my grandfather was in trance...In his trance he said "Why didn't you answer my salam?"

My aunty said, "We didn't hear you giving salam to us"

My grandfather said, "Nevermind, don't look for us, we are going back to Java"

Then mygrandfather came out of trance and back to his normal self.

That was the last news from the Keris.

A family heirloom had returned to Java.
